Hink Pinks!

Want a game for your kiddos to LOVE? This game of "Hink Pinks" is what your looking for! All the while your kiddos are practicing rhyming AND their knowledge of synonyms! Being silly just adds another plus! My kids don't even realizing they are reviewing while playing. If you aren't sure what a "Hink Pink" is, it's a fun riddle with answers that are 2 words that rhyme.

What do you call and overweight cat?
A fat cat!

Check it out at my here at Hink Pinks!

Division in Action!

We started the week with this dino book:

Going through it my kids said, "This is so cute!" and "My favorite day in math!!" They crack me up sometimes.

Today we used sequins for this word problem. Making anything pretty just seems to be more fun right?!

They just love the little dinos!
These activities are all in TPT titled Division with Dinosaurs.

Here's a couple of their dinosaur problems created/solved! They are so creative!

I didn't, but my kids would eat this stuff up!! I am printing out all of these pictures to fit my calendar squares! I am so excited!

Even Friday the 13th! The site started in February so they don't have cuties for every event yet, but I liked them on Facebook and I am def. going to keep up with it! Too cute!!

This week!

This week has been GREAT! I think Earth Day just cheers me right up. Look, even good 'ol Snoopy has his mind in the right place!
We finished reading How the Groundhogs Garden Grew and then we brainstormed different things that grow/live in the garden. Tomorrow the kiddos will chose their topics they are going to write about. Their job is to persuade the reader why the garden belongs to them! We are currently writing whole group for the bees! More to come!

Monday started with our sweet teacher Mrs. Solmes reading Thunder Cake to the kids. She put on the outfit and the accent of Babushka! It was awesome!
New on TPT
All about Synonyms! Great for review/small group/center work!

Persuade!

Today we started our LAST language arts unit of the year. I can't even believe it's true!! We started off persuasion! I introduced it with this lovely story:

After reading we talked about what it means to persuade, and we wrote down all of the ways that Pigeon tried to persuade us to let him stay up late! Rather cute I think!
This was as far as we got today, bit of a time crunch with tornado drill, fire drill, and a birthday celebration! More on persuasion to come!

This week we have been reviewing time to the 5 minutes. My kids are rockin' using the minute hand, but for some reason they are so confused on that hour hand. I often use the term "backyard" by asking, "Ok, whose backyard are we in?" It just wasn't working out. I wanted a visual for them to SEE it! I printed out these clocks:
We glued beans on the hours and 1 piece of rice for the tick marks (minutes) We then colored them as you can see. Tomorrow we are going to practice, practice, practice and I sure hope they can visualize it using these colors! I looked up how to dye rice (it looked like a process!) and then it hit me... sharpies! I have tons of them and sure enough after the glue dried we colored right on top. It worked out well!

Mother's Day is coming so I thought I would add this cute Mother's Day card to my TPT Store!
Check it out!! Don't all Mom's just love tea?? Also, it won't be much cost to the teacher to give every Mom 1 tea bag! I just love it, even gave it to my Mom one year!

Back at it!

For some strange reason I am always really anxious when we have a long weekend. I couldn't really sleep last night, just kept thinking about my day today!

We have officially finished up making our rock candy! I think it came out GREAT and I am def. going to do it again next year!
Here's the link if your interested:

We are still on procedures this week so we will be reading Thunder Cake by Patricia Polacco. We are working on sequencing events so I made this sheet for a fun activity:

Also! If you were interested in making a class recipe book, I made these:

Also in math I made a few cute games on fractions of a set! Check them out below:
