Area, Division, Procedures, Measurement...

Area with Alligators! Today we made our alligators:

It's amazing how creative some kiddos can be!!

One of the teachers I worked with bought my Division with Dinosaurs pack onTPT! He didn't realize it was mine. I thought it was pretty cool he thought it was worth buying! Here is one of the booklets one of his kids made:
Continuing our Oobleck work with procedures this week:

We wrote a recipe as a class. The students are copying it and we will be making the crazy stuff on Friday!

This was just a simple little procedure I have in word work center. I am just a sucker for when they go out of their way to make their work extra cute!

I got this idea from Mrs. Amy Lemons! Last week we were working on measurement so it worked out great. We read the story:

THEN the kiddos drew their animals and measured! This one was my favorite:

Finally, I leave you will Pepper. Just for a smile...

Area, and Procedures!

Our current units are keeping us busy and I am making a point to share!! I have been so tied up thinking about baby that I am letting some creative ideas slip by! For area we started with our flip books today:

For the early finishers I let them use the blank template to create their own numbers! They came out great! This is from my Area with Alligators unit on TPT!

For procedures we have read

THEN we practiced weaving a simple loom. We wrote the steps of this together

Next we read:
We sequenced the events of this story onto sentence strips. Usually we make thunder cake seeing as the recipe is in the back of the book... and it's always really fun to put tomatoes into a cake and gross your kids out!! Then they eat it and think it's wonderful...

BUT this year our fun was taken away. We are no longer allowed to do anything with food in our classrooms.... Boooo....

We have also been writing our own procedural texts using order words. Here are a few of my favorites:
This week we are reading
AND making the stuff! More to come on that one! We just started today!

Easter!

Talk about being out of commission! When you are pregnant you can't even help but thing about ONLY THE BABY! I have been obsessing about everything and paddling to keep up with school. You just can't help it! I am finally getting my groove back. More energy and feeling creative once more! Thank goodness for Pinterest and TPT to keep me going through my dry spell! Here is an Easter pack that I can't wait to use in my classroom:

Be kind to one another!

Catching up!! Area, Reindeer, Hot Cocoa, and ANNOUNCEMENT!

In math last week we were working with area. I have done the whole draw your name and find the area, BUT sometimes the kiddos have such a hard time drawing these "block" letters. This year I decided to guide them a little better. It totally worked! The first is my sample of what was expected of them and the second is an actual student example. Pretty awesome!

Below you will find our cute little hot cocoa similes. The students crack me up with similes such as "Hot cocoa is as amazing as a dog." or "Hot cocoa is as warm as a cookie straight out of the oven." They are all so different and creative. It's what I love about them! You can find this craftivity in my Christmas Everything Pack on TPT HERE!

We also wrote short persuasive applications to Santa. The students were trying to get hired as reindeer. It was actually a neat opportunity to explain to them about applying for a job. I talked about their handwriting on their applications and how Santa probably wouldn't hire the messiest writer OR the person who asked for the most money. For the most part they really took into account what I told them! I found this cute activity on Pinterest for FREE HERE!

 On a personal note:

And...

4 more days everyone!! We can do it!!
